What is your question?
I know a remanufactured unit would be wiser choice, but cant afford it, i plan to sell this immediately before other things such as the air ride/steering/suspension in general begin to fail more Id like to make sure it runs decent though in case i cant sell it that soon, so i plan to install a new torque converter, valve body gasket, pan gasket, half shaft seals, and DEFINITELY filter...the trans oil cooler seems to have leak/sludgish buildup around the upper (inlet?) hose, and i mainly just want to know if new oil cooler, and torque converter are wise investments on a used transaxle with 90 day warranty. Im installing this at the shop i work at, though we dont do transmission work, its my cheapest alternative Initially the transmission leaked fluid from bell housing area, and was slipping badly. Fluid was low and looked bad, so i added more. Over next few days the only way it would drive was by adding more fluid, it threw a P1744 code, and eventually it just couldnt move forward at all once the engine warmed up. It still moves back and forth when cold. Im assuming the torque converter clutch is messed up, which could have contaminated rest of transaxle. I was told by a trans specialist that it needed to be rebuilt for $2500, i dont think he was trying to rip me off, but i dont have knowledge or tools to rebuild myself.
yeah...you got a suggestion on what else should be in place between the axle shafts and the transaxle? its a front wheel drive V8, i know thats a lame concept compared to a RWD V8, but it has half shafts with seals on each side of transaxle that tend to wear out and leak. i just need to sell this car, any good suggestions to my questions would be appreciated they only made this thing with a FWD transaxle retard, dont bother looking up 01 Lincoln Continental questions if you got no idea how the car is made...your repair is advice is likely bad
I'm just glad it's your pos!!! Yeah i just started working on cars today...but i did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night!!! ....You should have bought the Town Car!!!......You know rear wheel drive....AH!!!
