replaced coolant temperature sensor in Lincoln,removed overflow cap,all gauges quit

What is your question?

Why did all my dash lights and guages go out and stop working after replacing coolant temperature sensor ,cranking and opening overflow cap to check coolant for any air in it? 2004 Lincoln Aviator
