eng light has been on for yr.s, a mechanic yr.s ago, told us to ignore it, that it was something that really didnt effect driving ! haven't had car checked for trouble codes in long time. last time i did auto pts store confirmed what mechanic had told us. but i dont remember what this was. i have had a couple of mechanics tell me this was lifters and 1 Lexus mechanic said that car needed "shims" measured and found (used ones) or machined to exact thickness installed on lifters. dealership says that cost would probably incl 15 - 20 hrs labor ($115 per hr) ! dont know what to do ?
