What is your question?
There's a knock developed suddenly. Researching it sounds like rod knock probable bad bearing. Planning to try and replace in vehicle. Not sure what I'll have to remove to get the oil pan off and access the bearings. Plan to pull spark plugs to isolate which cylinder is the culprit. Hoping it's not too difficult. Would love the specs and any other advice.

Hello, have you more than 60,000 miles and 5 years? This engine should have a warranty for that long. You may want to contact your local Kia dealership to see about possible goodwill consideration if it's out of that time and mileage period? I just can't imagine a 2013 Kia having a rod knock unless you have a ton of miles beyond normal expectations, and maintenance has been lacking. That said, to answer your question directly, the rod bearing caps should be tightened to 13.0 - 15.9 lb ft.
Mileage is 99,560. We've owned since 55,600. Oil changes 5,000 -6,500 miles always with receipts. I heard there were recalls on certain kia shortage motors 2010 - 2013 , due to faulty oil passage machining causing engine failure. I called Kia and the customer service said not this VIN. We've extended warranty coverage to 100,000 but worried that oil changes after 5,000 miles may be a concern since slightly over manufacturers recommended. Going to say a prayer and take it in.
