Why is my battery light and brake light on the dashboard staying on?

My car was running fine and then going up a hill my clutch burned out which I had towed to the shop and I had a warranty so they replaced the flywheel put a new clutch pack in and airfilter . Few days later I get it back and 5 hours later at a buddy's leaving g his house all of a sudden i started having power loss and the battery light and brake light stayed on. The Battery is only a few months old.. Is it the end for my alternator and how long till my car no longer will start?

most likely the alternator is not charging.battery is for cranking the car,then the alternator takes over.the more things you turn on,a/c,lights,signals,radio the faster it drains the battery,and soon will stall on you.have the alternator tested very soon.battery must have a full charge on it to test alternator while mounted on the car.
