Heard nothing when it first wouldn't start. All the lights on the dash lit up...check engine, battery, etc. My son tested the battery and it had 12 volts. It has started since, but we live in the country and I don't want to get stuck somewhere especially since a jump wouldn't even help.
How long has your 2003 Kia Spectra had this problem?

It would be fantastic if there were an easy push button fix here but unfortunately there isn’t. Only via *hands-on* testing by qualified personnel while the no crank condition is present can the failure by positively identified.. There are too many possibilities for online diagnosis.
