Smoke in the air conditioner white cloud burning smell

Is it possible you are mistaken about the smoke ? It is not unusual at all for a vapor cloud to be expelled from the dash vents when cold air meets warmer air - this is more pronounced if the air conditioner is used - turned off then after a short period turned back on again. In any event this will require *hands-on* evaluation by qualified personnel as the burning smell is a concern. Good luck!
