My daughters 2008 Kia Sorento is having A/C issues. You can get in the car and turn on the air and it will blow cold air with no problem. Next time you get in and turn on the air nothing blows or you can drive a while and the air flow just shuts off. Had a mechanic friend take a quick look at it and it worked fine the entire time he looked at it.
What makes this problem better or worse?

That's the problem with *intermittent* failures - IF it ain't broke.....

When it becomes more pronounced - then it can be repaired.
Blower resistors & the wires/connectors between the blower motor & resistor commonly cause those symptoms. If it has burned connectors, it likely also has a failing blower motor.
