What is your question?
My Kia need a new catalytic converter. This is the only major problem I have with the vehicle. It has over 200k miles. The mechanic said it will cost between 1900 -2000 depending on which converter(their are 3 different converters for my type of vehicle). Dealership keep calling but only offering 500.00 for trade-in. Help!

That's the first thing the Dealer want's is your phone #,I usually just give them the County Police phone #! They will pressure you if you let them.who told you that you needed a converter and are you having problems with the car? why does the mechanic not know which one you need, and yes there is a right and a left exhaust manifold with integrated catalytic converter, and a direct fit (converter only) that fits right or left.
Is the vehicle running ok? .. IF it is - why are you so worried about getting a new cat? Y'all got emissions testing there? .. The catalytic converters must be on the car - however their functionality isn't even considered in the VA safety inspection program - nor is the check engine light being on! Hell - I'd drive it just like it is before I would spend that kind of money! Just saying..
Tell the dealer where to go ... $500.00 is an insult! (BTW - I have a Virginia safety inspection license - so I know the procedure very well)
