What is your question?
Basically, free project car I got except the engine is DONE. BUT has only a few miles everything else is in really perfect shape for the age. Just wondering what engine I could swap it with to maybe get more power and have something fun. Unless the best option is just to get a brand new engine or something that is compatible with the transmission. I don't know enough I'd love to hear what you think thanks! It's a 2002 Kia Rio 5 speed manual with B5-DE I4 engine thank you again!
What makes this problem better or worse?
Engine is ruined News swap or crate motor
How long has your 2002 Kia Rio had this problem?
When I got the car from family that recently passed

Good used salvage engine that is compatible / interchangeable is best option.. That means a ‘stock’ engine. Most salvage dealers will include a warranty with engine.
To clarify -- unless you have unlimited cash funds and a technician handy who is good with experimentation and retrofitting components, stick with a stock engine. Whereas "anything is possible", it's extremely prohibitive cost and effort wise to try and fit an engine in this vehicle that does not belong. As Pushrod suggested -- why is the engine "DONE"?
You should investigate to be certain the existing engine is actually beyond reasonable repair.
