You need to check if your Optima has a transponder chip in your key. If fault in system (bad antenna ring) security thinks someone is Trying to (hotwire) car and shuts down computer. Ie no ignition or fuel. Try spraying starting fluid in air box. If car runs no fuel. Make sure when key is turned on you hear fuel pump run for about 2 seconds then stop. If not check fuel pump relay.
This guy changed everything , it gotta be alarm disabling injectors , is that what alarm Systems do is disable injector pulse??
Not in all cases. Usually vehicles with chips in keys. Take simple 2003 chevy silaverado, no chip in key, but has resistor chip in key cylinder (passlock2) this system via the body control module (BCM) if not given the rights resistance code will not send signal to ECM to fully energize. Hence vehicle will run for 2 sec. then shut off because ECM is not sending pulses to injectors. Something cars won't crank others ignition system is shut down. Not too sure exactly how system works in Kia that's why I told him to check engine with starting fluid. If it runs then there is a fault in security system (new f pump) or bad relay.
Thanks everyone but it doesn't have a transponder chip in the key. I have tried everything and still nothing. Does the alternator belt have to be on for the car to start? I have read it does and it doesn't? Thanks again
