The gurgling sound could be a result of air trapped in the cooling system or from the A/C as system pressures equalize when the engine is shut off. The cooling system should be bled. Careful inspection should be performed to confirm a sludge condition. It is common for sludge to form in the engine oil filler cap due to condensation and is normal. Sludge in the cooling system may be an indicator of serious problems. ie: radiator transmission cooler leaking internally, engine oil mixing with coolant. An A/C service may also help to restore the system to it's proper charge.
