If there aren't any present electrical problem, then possibly your engine might be locked up.
You will NOT get codes for a fault in the 'crank' circuit . You used the phrase 'remote start' in your post, does the vehicle in fact have aftermarket (or factory) remote start , or were you maybe meaning you hear the 'relay' under the dash clicking , when you turn the key? Are you able to do any tests with a voltmeter , with an assistant to turn the key as needed?
yes has factory remote start ,and just one click under dash when push remote start but not when you turn key. Live deep in woods and mice are a problem
You might have solved the mystery , to a small extent. Is it tow-truck time , or do you have some test equipment physical dexterity , a good flashlight and lots of patience? Testing the starter circuit and a visual inspection of the ignition switch circuit(starting from the actual switch at the column) for wire/rodent damage would be a start.
did get tester to test wires and did some visual checking but shocked at lack of space because of big hemi. can see where wire is spliced into for remote starter and where it goes threw firewall, goes threw where wire harness does
Since I'm not there to see for myself , 2 questions(maybe 3) , "can see where wire is spliced into for remote starter"- are you able to distinguish between 'factory' and 'dealer installed' accessories? and don't bitch about 'that big 'hemi'(registered/Chrysler corp.!! --I drive a damn 4cyl. Camry that won't blow up!! .......hmmm damn , now I forgot the 3rd question. Oh yeah , are you able(maybe tomorrow at this point) to test for voltage signal (should be full battery voltage) at the starter solenoid(NOT relay)? I had one a few years ago , (I work at a Honda dealership but occasionally get stuck diagnosing some of there used cars that are traded in) it would do nothing when I turned the key , ended up the terminal was a 'loose' fit on the solenoid , poor contact =no voltage=no-crank!! Pulled it off(easily as you might have guessed , and 'crimped it gently to tighten it , pushed it back on and ta-da! IF only you get that lucky! It was a bitch to reach , could either see it or work on it , but not both! Let me know, thanks!
Just for the heck of it, using the key, try it with 'shifter' in neutral.. It's a shot in the dark..... IF mice were any bigger, they'd eat the whole vehicle!!
no luck thanks for idea , They are a pain had one bite hole in windshield washer hose going to back window over my head ,
Damn right ! Thanks pushrod!! I forgot one of the most obvious faulty PRNDL SWITCH!!, Now go to sleep , it's past your bedtime!!! (402,377 miles!!!)
Hurray, I knew it would make it! .. You're right, it IS past my bed time .. Y'all fix this Jeep!!
Bruce, I'll send you the video of what I did to this 'beast(lol!) the weekend after it hit 400K , You might find it funny!
I saw the video - the tach - and the speedometer 'with the mileage' plainly visible! .. Now that is pretty amazing .. Toyota Camry - 2.2L 4cyl - turning 6,000 - 6,300 rpm in LOW gear for 3/4 mile .. WITH *400,497* MILES on the odometer.. Still going strong .. By comparison - Anybody else got that beat????
only 20,000 miles . if a wire to starter is broke or shorted out would it give any code or should it effect anything else too
Yes. If the wire from battery to starter is damaged. Also check you starter relay to make sure it's working properly.
