Dealership changed oil and serviced under warranty. oil filter lossened off after only a few miles and the low oil pressure message came on. Checked oil and was three quarts low. Filled up and returned to dealer. They found the oil filter had backed off and leaked the oil out. Service manager said this was a common problem and that the techincian was certified and had installed the new filter correctly. I call fowl. I have changed oil all my life and hand tighten the new filter to snug. When changing the filter I usually have to have a filter wrench to remove, I say the tech did not tighten correctly. What does everyone think? Do I have any recourse with Jeep since the certified these bozos.

They didn't tighten the filter properly. That is not a common issue at all and they are just trying to cover up a bad job. Alex
Unfortunately certification means that the person taking the written test passed - that is all it means! Hopefully no damage occurred - this is simply a case if not properly tightening the oil filter - that is all that can be said..
Well I guess there is the possibility of ‘double gaskets’ - anyone that’s performed engine services will know what that is - but even at that - it is still negligence / inexperience on the installers part - - ‘certified’ or not!
