Had to put the spare tire on and now the 4 wheel drive engages by itsself

Serious driveline damage can result from continued vehicle operation with *mismatched* tires! For continuous operation > ALL tires ‘on the vehicle’ must be exact same size.. Lastly - yes a smaller size tire can indeed cause this issue as the control module receives erroneous wheel speed inputs.
