What is your question?
I am having to run my Jeep morning and night or it will not hold a charge. I am told the battery is good and still under warranty and that it is not the alternator or fuel pump. If I do have to have someone out to jump it they say they won't replace the battery. They don't check connections or grounds or clean terminals or anything, so how do I ask them to do that or is anyone else having this problem and if so do you know the reason for it. Mileage is 80,000.
Thank you Pushrod, I have 'googled' that, an out-of-town friend suggested the same thing, so I checked glove compartments, etc. I am not a mechanic, nor am I mechanically inclined. I have had folks from Roadside assistance with USAA and also from my Premium AAA come out, but all they do is 'jump' the car. How do I get them to check other things, clean the terminals, check connections or grounds or anything else? Yes, I am pretty clueless, sorry! Do you know of anyone in my area, Roanoke Va, 24018 who could help? Thank you very much.
Crescent Hights Auto used to do good work but I haven't been out that way in several years now, ask to speak to Tom Wright... That should be close to you according to your zip code... I'm over in Franklin Country near Rocky Mt... It needs to be tested for an actual parasitic load first but that's the most likely suspect.
Thank you Pushrod, and I actually just moved to the 24018 zip from Franklin County, right on the Roanoke/Franklin County Line, zip code 24065. So getting to Rocky Mount shouldn't be a problem, I just really want someone who is knowlegeable and will test everything out to do so! This has been very tiresome, and no one really seems to check anything, whether connections, grounds, things that could be draining the battery, or even cleaning the terminals! Again, thank you!
The problem is that nobody knows how to do anything anymore! .. This younger generation knows a little bit 'IF' it appears on a screen but after that it doesn't exist! .. I Ben doing auto repair like forever, have been doing it for a living since 1973 .. I'm about done with it now and only work 3 days a week... Then troubleshooting is all I do, very little wrenching .. It would be best for you to find a local repair shop as I never really know what my work load is .. However arrangements could be made so I could check it out but that involves leaving the vehicle for about a week and I don't know how far down the road that will be .. Now IF you can't find a shop that can 'fix' this for you, let me know by posting another question or replying here.. I don't post phone numbers on open forums... Got a full work load as it is!
Thank you Pushrod, and that is pretty much what my out-of-state friend has said as well, folks just don't know how to, and don't take the time to, get to the bottom of things ... a simple jump just doesn't solve a thing. And for me, I would bring it in to you in a heartbeat if right now I hadn't had repairs in December and had a rental for about a week! So that is a bit of an issue for me now, however I would certainly want someone like you who would stick with things and figure them out and get to the heart of the matter. I may well be contacting you later, thank you for your prompt responses, they are appreciated!
