How do you get the gear shift out of park?

ok, here is what I think what happen, I took the car through a car wash and something got wet....I tried everything that I could look at and do from researching everything on the web, Went to take pictures and post on the jaguarforums and the shifter is now working....Before it didn't light up. now its lighting up. I am about to put everything back together now. I am thinking it could be the sleeve on the transmission that got wet since there are multiple wires that lead into it. What are your thoughts
