nope!they only put em on ford products in case of a wreck,it will shut the pump off to keep from catching on fire,but not for running out of gas,and possible fuel pump fried from getting hot from not being covered in fuel at all times to make it run cool.check fuel pump fuse and relay.might have got lucky.when gas hand gets on 1/4,consider that as empty,and go get more gas!
