2006 Isuzu Ascender. Reverse lights stay on when driving,in drive,like as in going forward. Got pulled over for this. Any ideas on why reverse lights stay on?

*IF* the reverse lights turn off when shifted into park - that about narrows it down to the park / neutral switch - which is also the reverse light switch.
*IF* reverses lights remain on anytime the key is on - there is a short to battery power -
Hands- on inspection by qualified personnel will be required either way.
