What is your question?
I was out of town on business when I heard what sounded like a squeel from the belt as I started my qx56. The sound was only there for a moment when I started it. It has 78,000 miles on it and has all it's regular services. I was home the next day and as I was leaving for work it did the same thing again, but this time it made the noise every time I accelerated. I could not hear it at all with the windows up and inside the vehicle. I stopped by the dealer and they told me the timing chain has come lose and this is common. The repair is $3,800 as long as there in no internal damage, if so it will require an engine block replacement as well. My question is is this a common issue with this engine, what has info done to correct the problem, and why is this happening with so few miles and proper engine servicing?

happens to nissans also.the tensioner fail and cause timing chain slap.as far as i know they have done nothing to correct issue
I have been searching the web today and it looks like this is happening a lot. Does this pose a safety concern? I called Infiniti today and am waiting for a response.
not really safety but it will be more costly if the chain or tensioner breaks
Having exact same issue at 68000 miles I'm being told a cylinder is also miss firing possible cause not enough oil pumping through how costly can be be and why is this not a recall like with the murano
It's a 3000-4000 repair job as long as it has not done any engine damage. If so it can cost up to $16,000 for a new engine. Infiniti has told me it's not a big enough issue for a recall. They also would not pay for my repair bill. I have spoke with four dealers and they say this is a pretty common repair, as they do a lot of them.
