Hello, you should not need to depress the gas pedal to start the car. With fuel injection, depressing the gas pedal shouldn't really do much except perhaps cut off fuel supply to the engine if you press the pedal to the floor to start the car. If this is the case, you could have a lack of air getting into the engine, meaning that as the engine gets ample fuel, it will not start because not enough air comes in. In any case, a professional local opinion would be best, anything I write is just a guess in theory. Good luck!
