What is an Input Turbine Speed Sensor circuit?

No, we have about 36,300 miles on the tucson. It seems to be an intermittant problem. In the past two days it only shifts rough for the first half mile or so of driving. Today, we drove it about 100 miles and no symptoms showed at all. Weird, huh?

If it's not out of warranty , I would bring it to the dealer.It may likely be something they've had issues with on other Tucsons'.If that's the case they might not have to duplicate the symptom in order to repair it, as duplicating an 'intermittent' problem can sometimes be very time consuming and frustrating ( to both the tech and car owner!).

thanks. Yes, we have not had the problem reocur since last Monday. Dealer said there was no malfunction light on( tow truck driver cleared the problem) and the dealer said he can't repair something that is not happening

As you found out , don't let anyone but the dealer clear the code(s).Next time this occurs get the specific code(s) and post them ,somebody else may have already had an issue like yours and be able to help more.

Thanks everyone for your help. We finally got back to our home dealership, McCafferty in Langhorne, PA, who took the initiative and found a technical bulletin that had been issued by Hyundai. The problem has been fixed.

I have a 2005 Hyundai Tuscon with 113,000 miles on it. I have had the intermittent RPM jumping problem since around 60,000. I have taken it to service centers 4 separate times and they always say they can't find anything wrong with it. I will be driving down the highway approximately 40-45 mph and suddenly the RPM jump to 4 K +. It will go on for a while and then stop. When you brought it into Hyundai what was the final repair that fixed the problem. You mentioned a service bulletin. Did it end up bein the Turbine Speed Sensor as mentioned above? Thanks!

Hi mkennedy, They didn't name the bulletin. I guess you can ask your hyundai repair shop to see if your car with over 100,000 miles on it may be covered with this bulletin.
