What is your question?
The rear defroster wasn't working when I bought the vehicle. When depressing the switch on the dash I heard a clicking as if the relay was working. I checked the 30A fuse and it was blown. I replaced it and it blows instantly when I depress the switch. Sounds like a short somewhere. Any ideas?

Get a VOM and test the resistance in the heating element, if good check the resistance in the power circuit to the heater.
Look on the sides of the element, there is usually a black connector plugged onto the prongs.
I flipped open the hatch and popped off the black plastic cover that was right at eye level - seemed like the one to do as I could clearly see the elements do a 90 degree bend and appear to go into it. Nope. False alarm. While it looks to be the one, that is solely the brake light housing - verified that by unplugging it. It must be the plastic cover that is directly over my head and the one that also houses the rear wiper motor. Tried to pop it off but I was marking it up pretty good and it's after 5pm here with light failing fast - no time to continue on. Hopefully will resume tomorrow.
I managed to download factory Hyundai manuals, so now I am armed and dangerous - great info. I only had 1/2 hour today in which I managed to pop off the cover over the grid terminals/rear wiper motor. I disconnected the + and - leads to the defroster grid, closed the hatch window and tried it - it blew the fuse straight away. So the process of elimination has begun. Looks like cold and snow starting on Wednesday, so I don't know when I will get back at this again. I'll check into how to pop off the panel around the defroster switch without damaging it and then continue on when weather/time permits.
Alright sounds good. If you need colors of wires let me know. I have diagrams.
Disconnect the switch from wiring ,jumper with a wire the 2 terminals if it doesn't blow the fuse ,its switch . I think you have bad switch.....
I don't have a wiring diagram/manual yet, so please clarify. When you say "jumper with a wire the 2 terminals", which two terminals are you referring to? I am pretty sure, too, that somewhere in the circuit with the grid is a timer circuit to automatically switch the element off if the switch is left depressed. I wasn't able to get back at it today. Maybe tomorrow or Tuesday depending on when I can get my hands on some documentation. Thanks for the reply.
Okay. I've got a meter but it looks like I'll need a wiring diagram, so it might be time to get a manual. Is there a connector/plug that I can access when I lift the rear hatch to check the element? There must be one somewhere as a new element will mean new rear glass.
