brake light switch is bad,out of adjustment, broken. google Part Number: JA4371 for a picture of it. look on drivers side under dash up on the brake pedal.less than $15.00 at local parts store....
Don't forget about the brake light switch *stop pad* .. IF it has broken - there is nothing to push in the switch plunger - which turns off the lights.
May see pieces of black plastic like material in drivers floorboard.
I show did in my ole Honda, pieces of plastic in floorboard. found me an ole flat washer in the tool box,got me some gorilla glue, works like a charm! SR1
Did the same thing to my corolla - used a penny glued to the head of a cut off 1/4†bolt - been like that for a good while now. Some of the sellers online wanted like $12.00 for the little plastic push in stop pad!
I didn't even look for one, went straight to my tool box cause I KNEW there was something in it that was rig-able. checked the thickness of the broken piece, got in the box,got a washer out bout the same thickness, handed it to my son and I went in the house! It and the gorilla glue worked like a charm. it wasn't long after that,a 26 ft. rental truck ran over my Honda and totaled it,BUT the brake lights still worked when they hauled it off! Later....
