Is it the 8th digit in the VIN which specifies the original engine? If so, which engine is specified by the letter "C"?

I would like to start this reply by letting you know that I appreciate the time that you devoted to answering my request for assistance. The answer that you gave that "C" designated a 2.4L 4 cylinder engine, I presume also means that the eighth digit in the VIN is the digit used to determine the engine that the vehicle had originally installed from the factory. However, sir, could you please explain the reason you obviously feel the necessity to attempt to diminish the intelligence of a person requesting assistance, clearly understood by any reader, in the remaining fragment of your answer "... Just like it says on the 'emissions decal' under the hood!!" I would like to end this reply by letting you know that, to persons who are requesting assistance, the time that someone, such as yourself, takes to respond to a request for assistance from persons needing assistance, such as myself, is truly appreciated, when that response is intended as a true attempt to help someone, but is not appreciated when the response is intended more as an insult, or as an attack against the intelligence of the person who requested assistance. Did it ever occur to you that the label was missing, or that the person requesting assistance was nowhere near the car to be able to look for the label, or any other possible reason, for the answer to the question, asked by the person requesting assistance, to become important enough to be asked? Would it be asking too much for the answer to be held relevant to the question that was asked, omitting any and all references to other topics, especially references to the intelligence of the person requesting assistance?
