I've seen diagrams showing the oil pump under the oil pan but also been told it's on the front/side of the engine being run by the cam shaft. Please help. That's a huge difference in work.
How long has your 2008 Hyundai Sonata had this problem?

Oil pump drive by CRANKSHAFT via chain and sprockets... You’re going to need a repair manual at the very least - you’ll be able to see the set up.. This is quite an undertaking - unless well equipped and talented - just saying.
Front engine timing cover and oil pan will have to be removed... Highly recommend timing components kit / with oil pump. I hope the correct ‘diagnosis’ has been made here - you didn’t elaborate on the actual problem. Good luck!
Thanks for the reply. Symptoms are chain rattle on startup and getting worse. Red solid oil light after warm up. Then rough idle and stalling. Changed VVT solenoids, pressure sensor and oil/filter. Told to try sea foam too.
