How to solve a power opening trunk not fully opening?

What is your question?

As far as the manual indicates and videos of reviews of this car show, the trunk should open all the way when the trunk button is pressed. I bought this car used, and when i press the button it opens just slightly. It doesn't have struts or anything like a hatchback, so it isn't obvious what the problem is. What could it be or how do I troubleshoot it?
