it was on full position when installing. after key turn to on it slowly moved to empty position and stays there. no low fuel light illumination.

did you have it scanned to confirm it was the gauge at fault and not the sender in the fuel tank? moat of the time it is the sender float/arm/switch in the tank that goes bad,and rare that the gauge goes bad.if you can live with it,drive on,your pump is still working.you will just have to keep it full or use the trip button on the odometer to keep up with the miles you get per tank full!
Most likely cause is fuel sender in tank, replace whole assy. with fuel pump if possible
