There are two ignition coils on this engine .. Now 'IF' the engine will not start it is *unlikely both coils have failed* IF the engine is mis-firing, swap coils to see if misfire follows that coil... You can also compare ohm readings between the two coils .... Measure one then measure the other and compare! .... IF in need of a diagnostic flow chart with component/circuit testing with specifications use the link below: www.alldatadiy.com
It is also important to consider an often overlooked truth when it comes to diagnosing any electrical component on a vehicle- the component has two states- Static, and Dynamic. Testing the coils when not under load may provide accurate results helpful in troubleshooting your vehicle, but sometimes coils fail when a demand for load is present . Meaning sometimes a fault only occurs while the coils are being asked to deliver higher voltages.
All of that plus extra mayo, light on the mustard, wheat bread lightly toasted and please hold the bs sauce! (cantfixasandwhich)
Pushrod did you just get upset because someone else added imput to a users question that needed help? All YOU really did was descibe a rather shadetree troubleshooting tactic then directed them to the AllData site, one of the reasons people ask for guidance here is because it doesn't cost anything and you can ask specific questions to humans. So unless AllData pays you to endorse their service why would you point them that direction? Being a technician isint about who knows more than who, its about getting vehicles back on the road. So in the future if you really want to solve vehicle problems, try giving specific real world advice to people seeking help, this can be accomplished by educating them, if qualified to do so, of course.

I'll bet this person understood every word ... I've only got 43 years of hands-on experience in the business, so I reckon in a few more, I'll be qualified to answer a few questions!! .. Until then folks, including yourself, can always get a bunch of technical information from : www.alldatadiy.com .. No it ain't FREE but such is true for MOST things in 'real' life! ... Now on the flip side I guess it makes no difference as the person who ask the original question has made NO attempt to respond ..... In over 4 MONTHS NOW!
