What is your question?
Haven't replaced battery or positive cable . Sometimes it starts after ten try's sometimes it will start first try. When I try to play radio or charge phone or leave driver door open that's when I seem to think I just shuts off " that also is the case when cars running " if doors are open an radio is on or try to charge phone car will run either a few seconds or maybe max 15 mins

a couple of things are a common problem on your Prelude..first,have you ever changed the main relay that gives MANY problems on about all Honda/Acura,from the early 90's up into the 2000's years.Second, have you had or know if this RECALL has been done on your Prelude>>>>>>>>>>>> Recall Number: 02V120000 Recall Date: 05/16/2002 Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH Problem Summary: ON CERTAIN SEDANS, COUPES, HATCHBACKS, AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, ELECTRICAL CONTACTS IN THE IGNITION SWITCH CAN DEGRADE DUE TO THE HIGH ELECTRICAL CURRENT PASSING THROUGH THE SWITCH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. Consequence: WORN CONTACTS COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. What Owners Should Do: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JUNE 14, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 OR ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238. Next Steps: Contact a Service Center Near You,......Reply back for info!!!!!!
Ok I'm the same guy with the problem now the car just won't start . There is a half tank of gas new fuel pump tried to jump start it an nothing. Yes I called the # u gave me but no dealership are open today how can I at least get it started an try to make it home without dieing. Like I tried to write last night when this happened once it starts I have to drive fast so it doesn't die but it still dies every other try only can get so far mile by mile?
it won't crank over? or it cranks engine over and won't start?
Won't turn over. I'll damn near try 30 times befor it starts or battery dies
well,if the battery is fully charged and all connections are clean, free of corrosion, tight, including the starter and all grounds, clean, shines like new,and tight, then either the ignition switch(electrical part)is bad,or the starter is bad!.when i first read your post, the way i understood it,was that you said not starting? so i ASSUMED it was cranking, but not starting!there is a way you can test it to find out if it's the switch or the starter.get a helper and a volt meter.have helper turn the key to the cranking position while you check the SMALL WIRE that goes to the starter for battery voltage.set the meter to DC VOLTS,20 VOLT SCALE.touch the red lead to the small wire and the black lead to a good ground somewhere.if you have battery voltage on that small wire while helper is trying to crank it and the starter does not try to crank the engine over, then the starter is bad! if no battery voltage on the small wire while helper turns key to crank it,then the ignition switch is bad!..you savvy?.that is easy to do/check.testing things FIRST,before buying parts you don't need is going to save you money.now if the switch is bad, depending on if A/T or MANUAL TRANSMISSION is COSTLY!! if A/T trans. the switch is $375.99 plus tax...if MANUAL TRANS. the switch is $459.99 PLUS TAX... both of these prices include the Ignition Switch & Lock Assembly w/ Keys....LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU FIND..
Thanks man yea it can't be the starter cuz I bought a brand new one lol an terminals fuel pump an filter I Gatta try The ignition switch tests you let me kno about. I notices I had a few more keys on my ring an was kinda heavy that world mess The ignition up correct ? An it's a 98 automatic h22 vetch
well, i have always been told that extra weight on the key switch/ignition ain't good for it and could/will cause problems,BUT i am guilty of that also. i have a 93 Accord and only have just that key,no key ring,i just keep it in my jeans coin pocket. i have 4 keys cause no chip, bout $2.00 each at a local locksmith here.BUT,on my F150 that does have the PATS security, for some odd reason i have several keys on a ring and a ford emblem,i need to remove all that. WAIT! back up. i HAD a 93 Accord, until Friday April 1st,clean as clean could be.my son drove it,of all days April Fools Day to help out at the Salvation Army.he was inside working, car parked in a parking space right outside.someone came and got him, said come out here, someone bumped your car!! BUMPED MY ASS? he went out there,a 26 foot Budget Rental Truck ran over my car and was stuck on top of the hood.he was rockin the truck back and forth from reverse to drive trying to get off of it and tore the WHOLE BUMPER OFF THE FRONT. not counting caving the whole front end> IN,hood buckled.dragged it back and forth 8 feet! he told my son he didn't have any INSURANCE? even stupid ole me knows, any time you rent a truck you either transfer your personal insurance to the rental or buy theirs! one of the guys got the driver to walk off for a minute and my son climbed in his truck, found his rental agreement, made a copy, put his back,Yeap,he's got Budget insurance! been 13 days,no body contacted me YET! i JUST put new tires on it,was fixin to do timing/cam belt/WP/seals,the works, all of that this week.they don't need to call me now! IT'S ON LIKE A CHICKEN BONE,WHEN I WAKE UP TODAY/WED. I could ramble on,but enough said.Oh,the driver was trying to run,but couldn't get loose from my car, anyways 15 people were taking pics and video, plus they have cameras all over that place!!!!!! Later, reply back with what you find...
