04 Honda Pilot AC problem

What is your question?

Took it to the dealer. They told me the compressor is not coming on; the clutch is not there ! Clutch might have broke off due to a locked compressor. Cost to replace approximately $1200. Does the clutch break off like that? How to check for a locked up compressor?
