any of them, and the transmission mount will also cause that.you can look REAL close at the rubber in the center, and most likely see one or more cracked/split.if never been changed, then there old,16 years old.but not as old as my 93 accord,it's 22.just changed the front dog bone mount.took the bolts loose,it fell apart in my hand in 3 pieces.you can change them yourself,BUT,you need to watch some youtube videos and research BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS!
Both, and are very common replacement items. Do not use "cheap" replacement mounts. Spend a little extra and request high quality mounts. They are not all the same.
Ok. Thank u. So it could be my front engine mount or my transmission mount causing the harsh shifting?
yes.usually it's the front or rear, but could be either or the transmission mount.most, if not all hondas will shift a little harder than any other vehicle, but if you can tell it's worse now(jerking)more, suspect any or all of the above.
Ok. Cuz I was lookn up some things bout my van and came across common issues with them. And harsh shifting was one of them and it said that the front engine mount needed to b replaced. It said something bout vibration in the rear has something to do with the rear mount.
that's what i did on my old accord.i changed the front one first.it was called a dog-bone mount..
Ok. Thanks.
your welcome.what i did is really not SAFE! i got someone that i really TRUSTED to start the engine, hold foot HARD on the brake pedal, put in in drive and give it a little push on the gas pedal and i watched the engine rock, then put in reverse and do the same thing.which ever way the engine leaned the most is the mount that's bad!!DOING THIS VERY CAREFUL!!!!!
Oh no. I wnt b doing that. If I can't tell by just lookn at it under the hood we will just replace all of them one at a time.
good idea! like i said it ain't safe, but i picked a good one to help me with it and it wasn't WIFEY!!!!post findings.
Ok. Lol. I wouldn't do it for my husband cuz it isn't safe. If something happened I would blame myself and never forgive myself. Thanks for the help.
your welcome.i wasn't kidding!the friend was ME!i just pulled the E-BRAKE UP,my little accord got good E-BRAKE.then i did the rest myself with hood up,doors closed, and standing on the side of the car working the throttle with my hand, worked for me!besides i wouldn't have ask her,we've been hitched 39 years Thanksgiving Day,i don't think she likes me!!good luck.
Oh wow! Congrats!! Y would she not like u? She's still with u right? That's a long time to b with someone and not like them. U know? I've been with my husband for 11 years in April. We've had some rough spots just like ne normal marriage but we fought through it together.
