Do coolant ports run through the timing chain housing on a 2005 Honda Element?

What is your question?

I have different mechanics telling me different things... Possible housing gasket crack and one mechanic is telling me to watch for coolant in my oil while the other is telling me this is not possible. No current evidence of leaks or noises.

So what is the actual problem with the vehicle?

I have a mechanic that is trying to tell me that I have a failing timing housing gasket but other mechanics are telling me that is not the case. The mechanic in question has also told me that I should be watching out for coolant in my oil because there are coolant ports that run through my timing housing which I think is also bogus but at this point I'm just trying to educate myself so that I don't feel like I'm getting dupped by anyone. We believe there is actually NO problem with the vehicle other then a very minor oil leak coming from the timing solenoid which is the part that the 'sketchy' mechanic claimed he replaced. THe question simply is.... is there coolant ports that run through the timing housing?--- Just realized I did not put 'timing chain' housing in my above question. Sorry about that. Thanks!!

The water pump is mounted externally to the engine and is driven by the serpentine drive belt - so there is indeed coolant passageways going through the front engine cover - “timing chain housing”.. Older vehicles using a *timing belt* driven water pump did not have these passages since the water pump was internally mounted and had a plastic front engine cover. (Of course this vehicle has a *timing chain* instead of the timing belt) No harm no foul - one mechanic was simply mistaken. As long as there are no rattling noises - no coolant leaks and no coolant mixing with engine oil then there shouldn’t be any problem.
