When this happens, seems as though car is going to stall out. Happens randomly. Occurred more often during the winter months and as the engine warmed up.

VSA is coming on by default , due to the 'check engine' light. Have scanned and post code(s) here and may possibly be able to help. Also how many miles on it and is the oil at its proper level?
I had the exact same thing happen to my 2005 CRV this past winter! When I brought it in, the mechanic did several diagnostic tests and said that it was the main computer in the car that was having the issue and in order to fix it I'd need to replace the entire computer. We decided to wait it out and now that it's summer it doesn't happen that often. It completely goes away when I re-start the vehicle, so I usually just re-start the car at the first stop light. I'd love to figure this out too, but we are learning to live with it. Please let me know if you get any other answers.
I am having this exact same problem right now and have been given the exact same answer. I haven't tried restarting but when it is cold the problem does seem to start up. I have experience when the engine is warm and at highway speeds and then when it is cold and at low speeds. I ma having the car tested for electrical problems, however I have also been advised to try an replace the gas cap from a friend who had the same problem. That was advice from a Toyota mechanic on his Toyota minivan. Same situation with lights on and such. Did you ever figure anything lese out? I will be holding off on purchasing a new computer for sure after discovering that others are having the same problems..
