When I am breaking, before the car comes to a stop there is a single 'thunk' noise from the right side towards the rear.

Take bowling ball out if trunk.

Unfortunately, due to multiple possibilities- this is going to be impossible to diagnose online.. Recommend taking knowledgeable mechanic for a short ride or have mechanic test drive so this concern can be experienced first hand. Good luck!
