I have not found any precipitating circumstances for when it blinks or stops blinking. Anyone have this issue and how did you get it to stop?

'D' light blinking indicates a trouble code has been stored in the trans control module. Need to have scanned (generic OBDII code reader will NOT do it!). Need a scanner equipped with Honda software and ability to communicate with trans.If and when you get the code(s) , post codes (not description just #s) , and I may be able to assist more.
That answer was correct. You do have a transmission fault of some kind. I am local and near you. If you would like to have me scan your vehicle I can give you an honest assessment of what's going on.
