I would try running a jumper wire from the battery positive terminal to the compressor clutch, before going any further. If the compressor then runs, and you get cold air, you know that the compressor and its clutch are okay. Next, use the jumper to bypass each of the switches, one at a time. When you get to the bypass that makes the compressor run, you've found your bad switch.
No its not but it's not locked down I can turn it with my hand when the car is off
A/C may be over charged! need someone to check high and low pressure with manifold gauges.some now have a check valve, and will shut em down. if the clutch don't turn,no cold air,and i know that's bad..it's 100 here right now in NC,20 miles from Charlotte!
No the air has never been messed with and it has always worked great until now ..it is a 2005 so maby the compresor has just went out but it's so strange to be working so good to nothing
well,if it's not over charged, then it might just need a little freon then.i see people going to Autozone,Advance, and other parts houses and just add a can.yes,it has a gauge on it,and the people i talked to just don't care what that gauge says, they just want it blowing cold air! my compressor is over 16 years old and blows 39-42 degree air out of the vents in an F150>2000 model, knock on wood.
No its been checked it has freon in it for some reason the compresor won't run
well, there are switches on it also that will go bad also.has all that been checked?
No that was what I wanted to know what should be checked next what kind of switches? Low pressure? High pressure? What tells the clutch to engage? I don't have a ton of money I am trying to fix it with minimal cost I know I can take it to a shop n get charged 600 to 1200 to fix it but I'm trying to avoid that
