my dashboard lights started flicking,headlights dimmed and the enginue quit?

alternator is bad.it drained your battery down to nothing.that's why you saw these things.take it to a parts place and have it checked,and or replaced.take the battery with you and have it charged.the battery light should have came on when all that started to warn you something was not right.
