What is your question?
I'm a student looking for my first car. I've been looking on craiglist on come across several. However, as my knowledge about cars is at a minimum I would like to ask, which of the following you would recommend: Chrysler PT Cruiser 2009, 60,000 miles, $3,450 Chrysler PT Cruiser 2007, 160,000 miles, $2,900 Chervolet Aveo 2007, 167,000 miles, $3,150 Honda Accord 2003, 80,000 miles, $3,500 (4wd) Ford Taurus 2002, Milage unknown, $1,800 (6cyl) Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 2004, 148,000 miles, $ 3,100 (6cyl) It is going to be used in southern Texas and mainly just for regular commuting. I hope you can help :)

The Ford and Pontiac are descent cars... However I suggest ; *Toyota* (Camry or Corolla) Then.. Nissan (Altima or Sentra) Honda (Accord or Civic) .. I've been doing auto repair a VERY LONG time and these 'Asian' vehicles simply have a better track record than most of the other makes! .. Chevy Malibu is a good vehicle also...This is my opinion but it's based on FACT .. I work on ALL of em out there! .. It's a pretty simple evaluation when you see exactly what's comming into the shop for just routine service OR major repairs!!! .. I see one of the vehicles you listed is an Accord but 4wd, I don't much care for that particular feature! ... As far as 'ease of service' and dependability, skip the PT and the Aveo!
This is really helpful. Being on a tight budget, it is important that I do not have to make repairs all the time. As far as I can see, it seems to be the Honda I should go for.
Out of those choices, I agree... Smart move to ask for information befor buying the first thing that you see! So many people just buy on impulse and then are very sad when they have to bring it in to be worked on, ease of serviceable alone is a BIG factor over time! .. The harder it is to get to serviceable components, the more money it's going to cost..not many people even considered that when buying a vehicle!
There is a Honda Civic 2004 as well for the same price as the Accord ($3,500). It has tracked 140,000 miles. Would this be a better choice, or is it similar to the Accord?
The Accord has fewer miles so that is probably the best choice.. I'm just not crazy about a 4wd 'car' as they tend to be harder to work on.. Leave the 4x4 to the SUV's. .. Test drive the car you choose and see if you can get it looked at by a mechanic just to be sure there isn't anything that's obviously wrong with it.... Good luck to you!
Thanks a lot. It was great with some guidance :)
Happy motoring!
