What dash board light? Could you give a little more detail? What other symptoms ? Does the car run?

The light comes up at night in the dashboard so that one can read the speedometer and other control panels. The car runs good but we find some minor leaks the mechanic said the leaks are from engine and transmission. we have emission test coming soon. Before that we need to take care of the engine light on issue.Pl help!!
