Climate control issues

What is your question?

My 2000 Accord has 234000 miles on it. Everything works properly except the climate control unit. I can turn the fan on and it will blow heat but I cannot turn on a/c or defrost or switch between vents. The buttons do not work. I ordered a replacement unit and put it in properly but it did not work. I did notice it worked in certain positions but when I snapped the unit back in place or moved the wiring in any way it went off. Maybe it's a short or something I'm not sure I don't know much about electrical issues. Please help I'm freezing and can't see. Winter in Ohio sucks.

Since I bought the car in August. It was totaled before I bought it then repaird unsure of what happened
