How many miles since the fluid level has been checked? Could be low fluid. Honda get s checked on LEVEL: ground , with the engine off. Preferably with it warmed up, but given your description, I would check first to make sure it at least has it up to the 'minimum' mark on the dipstick! Suggest using Genuine HONDA ATF! that way , you know it is NOT the wrong fluid causing the problem.
