What is your question?
I have a (blink code) 12 on my 1998 accord which relates to the EGR valve its an electrical valve not a vacuum pipe sort there are a few small nuts and bolts on the valve but is it possible to strip it down. I have taken it of and cleaned all that i can get to and reset the management light and it stayed out for quite a while. should I strip down the inlet blanking plate and clean all the carbon from this as-well Cheers

Look at the ports where the valve mounts to the engine and see if it is clogged with carbon build-up. Restriction in the ports is more common and may be something you'd want a shop to deal with (don't know your skill level).
Thank you ziptie for your answer. Just to let you know that my skill level is top of the range. been in the trade for 35-40 years and have all my (snap-on) tools, still polished and lubricated and rearing to go.(made redundant 2 years ago). Its just that when I took the EGR valve off last time I noticed 4 small 8mm nuts and bolts holding the base to the electronic part of the body and wondered if the valve was strip-able. because as there is no vacuum port so I can't put a mityvac onto it to open the valve seat to clean it. I hope this is not a to vague an answer. cheers pete ps I think I will be taking the manifold apart eventually as I have seen on-line that the carbon buildup gets into place that carb cleaners can't reach.
I've never even thought of trying to take apart one of those valves , so I couldn't really answer that question. As far as the carbon build-up , you don't need to remove the intake , you just need to drill then use a little 'slide-hammer' to pop the four plugs out of the manifold runners and clean out the carbon with a combination of compressed air , patience and a pick/screw driver and berkebile 'gum-cutter' (best I've found over the years. Honda has the replacement plugs available (look like mini freeze-plugs).
hi ziptie I will be having another look at these (core/freeze plugs) and remove them and have another clean up of that pesky carbon. But until then I have bigger fish to fry. the son in-law has just presented me with his BMW 530 problem, the dreaded swirl flaps in the inlet have broken and now there is a knocking from the top end so it looks as though the head has got to come off to see what damage has occurred, hopefully its only gone as far as piston crown and Head surface as he got toed in as soon as the noise started wish me luck ;-]
hi ziptie pushed the reply button twice whoops
Yeah , I definitely wish you luck on the beamer, I am not at all fond of those or (to remain unnamed) European imports in general. Technically I think some of them are brilliant , but their thought process in assembly and serviceability kills me! Try to have fun??.....
hi ziptie Beamer head's Off and debris all removed No.4 and No.6 affected plus the Cam/rocker cover for some reason has had a burnout at No.6 inlet the the cover is all part of the inlet system anyway it has resulted in needing to buy a new or s/hand cam cover. more money. but I think its worth it as the car is in very good condition and after all the son inlaw is getting it all done for nothing (THANKS father inlaw).
