What is your question?
When the car was used regularly, while driving on the freeway, occasionally the tachometer would bounce around from 5K RPM to 0 and then stay at 0, even though the car was running fine. Eventually, the tachometer would return to normal operation. Last year the car would fire and run for about 2 minutes then die. Then the car would fire and run for about 30 seconds, then die. Then the car may fire one more time for about 5 seconds, then die. I had the car towed to the house, where it has sat. Last week after replacing the battery, the car fired right up, but died after about 2 minutes. Then the car fired and ran for about 30 seconds then died. After the engine stopped, the CEL was on and about 10 seconds later the D4 light began flashing repeatedly. I turned off the key, waited about 10 seconds, then turned the key to position II. The CEL stayed on; I never heard the fuel pump relay engage; about 10 seconds after turning the key the D4 began flashing repeatedly again. The car will turn over at this point, but will not fire. The main relay and ignition coil have been replaced.

if you turn the key to run, right before start, not start, the check engine light should come on and when it goes out,if you do not here it CLICK,it won't start.it should crank over but not start if no click when the cel goes out.was the main relay you replaced NEW?also the D4 is a transmission code.you will have to jumper out the connector on the passenger side and count the flashes on the D4 light, not the check engine light to get the code.
Turning the key to run, the CEL comes on and now stays on. (In the past the CEL would go off and I would hear the fuel pump engage, and then the car would fire.) The D4 will still flash after the key is left on for ~12 seconds. Yes, the main relay was new from a dealership (~$100). I still have the old one, on which I re-soldered the joints. I also plugged in the old relay, and the car behaves the same way. After jumping the connector, I pulled an ABS code 1: "ABS pump motor over-run". (I am now researching this code on what to do next.) Last time the car fired (yesterday for ~10 seconds), I heard some awful noise coming from the ABS pump area. If the ABS is the problem, then why will the car not fire, or even engage the fuel pump? Thanks for your input! UPDATE (F, 03 Jul 2015): The ABS fluid reservoir was empty (oops!). I filled it, but now the ABS motor will not turn on, even after using a jumper from the battery to the ABS box (blue & yellow wire). Perhaps on the upside, I do not get any more ABS codes. Additionally, when the key is now turned to position II, the CEL stays on (fuel pump never engages), and the D4 light begins to blink after leaving the key on for 20 seconds and continues blinking.
