How did you get rid of the check engine light due to gas cap?

if that was the problem,and you fixed the problem,then the light will go off after computer goes thru a drive cycle.maybe 50-200 miles.or if you can get someone to clear the code,it will go off,but still stored in memory untill drive cycle completed.if the light comes back on,that was not the problem.
