Leaking fluid. Temp reaches 260. Then a warning message comes up saying the engine coolant is running hot. Scared it is a water pump issue.

There's nothing to be afraid of; Is the leak from the bottom of the water pump pulley onto the harmonic balancer and pulley. The water pumps are not that hard to change.
I have not exactly targeted where the leak is coming from. It is leaking antifreeze. Could it be the heater block that was installed? We need to drive this Yukon back to North Dakota in a week. How long does it typically take for a water pump installation?
You need to pressure test it and narrow it down before you replace anything on a guess. I can change a water pump in about 30 min and I have the proper tools. Heater block? Do you mean heater core.
Sorry! A block heater. You plug it in and it keeps the water in the engine warm. It's common in Northern states with extreme cold temps. What is the going rate for labor and parts for a water pump? In California
I wasn't sure about the block heater in Bakersfield, I am originally from Tulare and now in Texas for the last 30 years. You should be able to see the leak if the block heater is leaking. I'm getting to point of not remembering all the prices on all the vehicles. I think the labor is around an hour and a half, and the pump at O'reillys is around $100.00.
