Seciurity system activates(horn sounds, lights flash on/off) during storms. Fix?

starts ok, fob inoperable for awhile & resets after a short time. Thunderstorm this past evening causing activation 3 times. Finally left vehicle unlocked and no events after that.

What makes this problem better or worse?

leave vehicle unlocked
