What is your question?
After an attempted theft of our 98 GMC Yukon we had to replace the whole steering column. Now because of the pass lock system the security light stays on and shuts off the ignition after a couple of seconds. Will replacing the ignition fix the problem?
Will this work even if the original key was not the type with a chip?
Where is the key you were using in the truck before all this happened??? .. The original key, where is it????
We have it but since we had to replace the steering column it is of no use at the moment they destroyed our key cylinder when they tried to steal it
Ok, you need to take that key AND the key you have for the new column to a lock smith... Locksmith will use a key blank with the right chip in it to cut some keys that WILL work in the truck .. BUT needs the old key to go by for the chip ... and the new key to go by for the cutting! In other words you will have keys that have the right chip in them.. That have been cut to work in the truck now!!
Ours isn't a VATS system so there isnt a cip in the key for them to place in the new key
Ok, I give up!!! .. Can't help you, sorry!
Can you tell me where the bcm is located
