What is your question?
When turning hard specifically on a down hill slope or when the brakes are applied. My 4x4 gmc Sonoma on the front drivers side will grab tire and chirp and act locked up only for a second, then it will roll on as before. What could cause it to do that?

It very well could be the transfer case. This can also be binding in a u joint but it needs to be inspected to be sure. Don't order any parts until a shop has diagnosed the issue. If you don't work on your own car then use this link to find a good shop near you. https://repairpal.com/repair-shops Alex
4 wheel drive is engaged - whether you want to be or not .. ALL four wheel drive vehicles exhibit this when in 4 WD on dry pavement. Have the 4x4 *vacuum switch* tested - located on top of the transfer case.
