What is your question?
Excluding obviously poor quality mfg, like China, there is still a range from Delphi at at$70 to Ac Delco at $300. What is the reason for this. Im i getting more if I pay more?Last week I got a new fuel pump assembly priced at $280 locally, for $48 on line. It was perfect. I understan the brick and mortat mark up but that does not address why the vast price range on line. Am I missing something here? Question 2. as long as I am at it should I change out plugs and wires as well?

Hello, Pricing just varies from brand to brand, warranty period, track record, etc... the old saying "you get what you for", is about right most of the time. Spark plugs and wires should be changed if faulty, or if the manufacturer suggested interval is near or past. To test the wires, check how many ohms of resistance you have between the terminals. High ohm readings are bad.
You should concentrate on restoring ignition 'spark' to get the engine running first, like we discussed previously... Then tune as needed... I hope you've made provisions to have the 'crank position re-learn' performed after distributor installation! .. As for this distributor, it's basically just a crank angle/camshaft sensor, not much to it, however it does have to be operational... Ignition system spark is actually 'generated' totally outside of 'this' distributor then it is mearly 'distributed' via the rotor and distributor cap .. That is NOT an ignition module inside that the wire connector hooks up to, it is a sensor .... Just so you know! .. Use the diagnostic flow charts I provided a link for on your other post.
thanks...it was at your advice I was pricing distributers. I have to remove front seat just to get access to the engine. I figured It might be practical to get it all out of the way at one time because of that.
Get it running first .. Do any additional work needed .. THEN replace the dog house... Btw, in your previous post, you stated the distributor housing was cracked .. so - I advised it needed to be replaced. .. That is correct... However I did not state that was the problem with no spark... Testing required! .. The engine cover will come out through passenger side 'without' seat removal after the cover is lifted up from the back .. I've never had to remove a seat and I do a bunch of work on em for other companies service vehicles as well as the customized versions... I am just trying to save you some work and money here! .. I get nothing at all for the advice... It is free!
thank you.....so....ifit aint broke dont fix it........on this van the front seat has to be removed to get the engine cover off.i guess I didnt want to have to go through that again at a later date to tune em.
